I began making wire heart pins 15 years ago when my father was
in the hospital hooked up to a heart monitor. I took out the tools
and wire that are always with me and began making hearts with
zigzags in them. The idea morphed over the years into bound knots
and wound coils. My father loved to watch my hands move and create
things with wire. He said it was like drawing in space.
